THE M77/A77 TRUNK ROAD (GIRVAN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITIONS OF TRAFFIC AND TEMPORARY 10MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) (NO. 2) ORDER 2026

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1) and (2), 4(1) and 14(1)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a temporary speed restriction of 10mph when convoy working is in operation to be escorted through the works and of temporarily prohibiting waiting, loading and unloading on that length of the M77/A77 Glasgow – Stranraer Trunk Road at Girvan from a point on the A77 Henrietta Street 300 meters or thereby north from its junction with Duncan Street, in a northerly then easterly direction along the A77 Knockcushan Street, then in a generally north easterly direction to the A77 Bridge Street, the A77 Old Street then the A77 Vicarton Street, to a point 77 meters or thereby east of its junction with Montgomerie Street, a total distance of 628 meters or thereby.

The Order, which is required because works are being proposed to be executed on or near the road, will be in operation from 25th May until 21st June 2026 and will only have effect in relation to such length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

No prohibition imposed by this Order applies to a vehicle being used in an emergency for fire brigade, ambulance, police or coastguard purposes, or a vehicle being used for carrying out the works.

No speed restriction imposed by this Order applies to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations, or vehicles being used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.
