What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING) (CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT NO.**) ORDER 2026. THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (CONTROLLED PARKING AREAS) (CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT NO.**) ORDER 2026. THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (AMENDMENT NO.**) ORDER 2026. THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (LEAGRAVE PRIMARY AREA TRAFFIC EXCLUSION ZONE) ORDER 2026. THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (RIVERBANK PRIMARY AREA TRAFFIC EXCLUSION ZONE) ORDER 2026.
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Orders under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The general effect of the Orders will be to:
1. Introduce Armstrong Road, Hunting Drive and Whittle Drive into Resident Parking Zone (J), the resident parking zone will operate between 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday inclusive.
2. Introduce various lengths of No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on Barton Road, Beresford Road, Buchanan Drive, Buckingham Drive, Clarendon Road, Colwell Rise, Cowper Street, Cutenhoe Road, Eaton Valley Road, Highfield Road, Littlefield Road, Long Croft Road, Maidenhall Road, Marshall Road, Medina Road, Mountfield Road, Newark Road, Portland Road, Richmond Hill, Shaftesbury Road, Stockingstone Road, Strathmore Avenue, Sunridge Avenue, Quantock Close, Waddesdon Close, Wensleydale, Whitchurch Close.
3. Introduce the off-street Library Road car park as a pay-by-phone only car park.
4. Introduce lengths of bus stop clearway on Grange Avenue.
5. Introduce a 7.5 tonne lorry restriction except for access on Chandos Road and Osborne Road.
6. Introduce a length of permit holder bay for doctors only on Cosgrove Way.
7. Introduce a No Entry for unauthorised motorised vehicles restriction during school term time only between 8.00am and 9.15am and 2.30pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday, 8.00am and 9.15am and 12.30pm and 1.45pm on Friday, in:
Bath Road from Carlton Crescent;
Foxglove Way from New Bedford Road;
Primrose Close from Foxglove Way.
8. Introduce a No Entry for unauthorised motorised vehicles restriction during school term time only between 8.00am and 9.15am and 2.30pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday, 8.00am and 9.15am and 12.30pm and 1.45pm on Friday, in:
Strangers Way from Hockwell Ring;
Strangers Way from High Street.
9. Introduce a prohibition in turning for unauthorised motorised vehicles restriction during school term time only between 8.00am and 9.15am and 2.30pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday, 8.00am and 9.15am and 12.30pm and 1.45pm on Friday, in:
Carlton Crescent, no left turn into Bath Road;
Carlton Crescent, no right turn into Bath Road;
New Bedford Road, no left turn into Foxglove Way;
New Beford Road, no right turn into Foxglove Way.
10. Introduce a prohibition in turning for unauthorised motorised vehicles restriction during school term time only between 8.00am and 9.15am and 2.30pm and 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday, 8.00am and 9.15am and 12.30pm and 1.45pm on Friday, in:
High Street, no left turn into Strangers Way;
High Street, no right turn into Strangers Way;
Hockwell Ring, no left turn into Strangers Way;
Hockwell Ring, no right turn into Strangers Way.
11. Revoke and remove the school keep clear restriction outside No’s 12 to 16 Portland Road.
12. Revoke and remove a length of parking bay from outside of No’s 98 Eldon Road, 66 Lime Avenue, 45 Stanton Road to facilitate off-street parking and extend the adjacent waiting restriction in their place.
13. Correct an anomaly between on-street restrictions and the map-based plans for Bridge Street, Bute Street, Chaul End Lane, Connaught Road, Eaton Green Road, George Street, Kenilworth Road, Manchester Street, Studley Road.
