Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, Observatory Street Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 1 June 2026 Coming into force: 8 June 2026
This Order is being introduced because of low-voltage electric cabling and excavation works which are anticipated to be completed by 26 June 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Observatory Street from No.43 to the junction of Walton Street. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route is via Walton Street, A4144 Beaumont Street, A4144. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16725/AC)

Oxford, Barton Road Headington Shared-Use Footpath and Cycleway Prohibition of access and waiting
Date of Order: 1 June 2026 Coming into force: 8 June 2026
This Order is being introduced because of gas mains replacement which is anticipated to be completed on 21 September 2026. This is a 24 hour closure. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of the shared-use footpath and cycle way at the northern most part of Barton Road at its junction with North Way. The closure effects pedestrian access to the underpass. Some parking places will also be suspended in Barton Road. The relevant part of the Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford City – Various Roads) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2026 will be suspended for the duration of the works (8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday Permit Holders or 2 hours Parking). Exemptions are included for emergency services and for works. The alternative route will be signed locally. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

This Order is being introduced because of footway and kerbing works which are anticipated to complete by 12 June 2026. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in Leckford Place. This is a 24 hour road closure. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route will be signed locally. Oxford – Woodstock Road Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 11/05/2026 Coming into force: 23/05/2026
This Order is being introduced because of excavation and reinstatement works which are anticipated to take until 05/06/2026 to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding southbound in that part of Woodstock Road coming from the Wolvercote Roundabout until no. 390. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for police, fire and ambulance services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is Godstow Road, First Turn, and Mere Road. Traffic will also be diverted via the A40 to Cutteslowe Roundabout, A4615, Banbury Road, and St Giles’. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17994/JP)
