Junction 19 Boreham Interchange to Junction 25 Marks Tey Interchange, Essex - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)(A) AND (7) THE Al2 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 19 BOREHAM INTERCHANGE TO JUNCTION 25 MARKS TEY INTERCHANGE, ESSEX) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the Al2 Trunk Road in Essex to enable carriageway improvement works including resurfacing, road markings, and joint repairs to be carried out in safety.
The works will take place over approximately 6 months (9pm to 5am), starting on, or after, Monday 13 July 2026. The restrictions and prohibitions will be applied only to the extent that is necessary for particular works to be undertaken and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The effect of the Order will be to impose, for 24 hours daily-
1. a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on the Al2 - • northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 19 Boreham Interchange to the entry slip road at Junction 25 Marks Tey Interchange,
• southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 25 Marks Tey Interchange to the entry slip road at Junction 19 Boreham Interchange, and
• all slip roads leading to or from the above lengths of carriageway.
2. closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in 1 above.
The temporary mandatory speed limits will not apply to emergency service or special force vehicles, and the lay-by closures will not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, works or winter maintenance vehicles.
The Order will come into force on 18 May 2026 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of eighteen months, whichever is the earlier.
