QUIET LANE DESIGNATION (PILOT SCHEME) -
KILN LANE (U5937), STOWLANGTOFT, BURY ST EDMUNDS
On 11/05/2026 Suffolk County Council made the above Quiet Lane Designation under Section 268(1) of the Transport Act 2000, the effect of which will be to designate the length of Kiln Lane, Stowlangtoft, Bury St Edmunds, as a Quiet Lane as part of a county wide Quiet Lanes Suffolk project.
Quiet Lanes are designated as appropriate for shared use by walkers, horse riders, cyclists and other vehicle users, and are intended to enable users to enjoy country lanes in greater safety and encourage drivers to respect more vulnerable road users. Advisory signs are placed at each end of Quiet Lane.
A copy of the designation and map showing the lengths of road affected, together with the council’s reasons can be provided by email or can be viewed by prior appointment at Suffolk County Council, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 2BX. Requests to view documents should be sent via email to: sophia.henry@suffolk.gov.uk
The above-mentioned documents can also be viewed at Bury St Edmunds Library, Sergeants Walk, St Andrews Street North, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1TZ, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am - 5.30pm; Tuesday and Friday 8.30am - 7.30pm; Saturday 8.30am - 5pm; and Sunday 10am - 4pm; excluding Bank Holidays and Public Holidays.
The designation of the road shall come into effect on 22/05/2026.
