What is happening?
THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(SANDY LANE AND GATEFORD ROAD, WORKSOP)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, WAITING, LOADING and UNLOADING) ORDER 2026 (BS26-135)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, in respect of roads at Worksop in the District of Bassetlaw The effects of the Order will be:
1. Vehicles are prohibited from proceeding in the following length of road
a. Sandy Lane, Worksop - Between its junctions with Shireoaks Road and Gateford Road
b. Gateford Road, Worksop - Between its junctions with Sandy Lane and A57 Worksop Bypass
2. Vehicles are prohibited from Waiting, Loading and Unloading (both sides) (at all times) in the following length of road
a. Sandy Lane, Worksop - Between its junctions with Shireoaks Road and Gateford Road
b. Gateford Road, Worksop - Between its junctions with Sandy Lane and A57 Worksop Bypass
3. All existing permanent restrictions will be temporarily suspended as required.
4. The restrictions specified above shall only be in effect when the signs are in place.
IT IS INTENDED that the prohibitions respecting the above road or roads will apply as follows:
From 00:01 Monday 24th August 2026
Until 23:59 Thursday 23th March 2028 inclusive.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available will be:
a) Sandy Lane - A57 Worksop Bypass - Newcastle Avenue - Watson Road - Bridge Place - Gateford Road - Sandy Lane
b) Gateford Road - Carlton Road - Raymoth Lane - Gateford Road
c) A57 Worksop Bypass - Sandy Lane - Babbage Way -Gateford Road
The Order will come into force on Monday 24th August 2026 and any prohibition in it shall apply on that day and any subsequent day when necessary to enable works to be carried out. The Order shall continue in force until the works are completed (within a maximum period of 18 months).
The prohibition is required to enable occasional Abnormal Movements from Brunton Shaw
