Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
BOWTHORPE ROAD – from its junction with Farrow Road to its junction with Earlham Green Lane to facilitate carriageway and ironwork repair works between 09:00 and 16:00 from 25th to 29th May 2026 (may continue until 10th July 2026). Alternative route is via: Guardian Road, Farrow Road, Earlham Road, Earlham Green Lane and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
BULL CLOSE ROAD – from its junction with Charlton Road for 25m eastwards to facilitate water apparatus repair works from 26th to 28th May 2026 (may continue until 9th July 2026). Alternative route is via: Bull Close Road, Charlton Road, Barrack Street, Silver Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
CONNAUGHT ROAD – from its junction with Dereham Road to its junction with Sandringham Road to facilitate lead water replacement scheme works from 26th May to 31st July 2026 (may continue until 31st January 2027). Alternative routes are via: Phase 1: Dereham Road, Helena Road, Stafford Street and vice versa. Phase 2: Sandringham Road, St Philips Road, Stafford Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water. NB: the works are anticipated to take place in two phases: Phase 1 from Dereham Road to Stafford Street and Phase 2 from Stafford Street to Sandringham Road.
NEWMARKET ROAD SLIP ROAD OPPOSITE 9 BLUEBELL ROAD TO EAST OF 219 NEWMARKET ROAD – from its junction with Bluebell Road to its junction with Newmarket Road to facilitate telecommunications installation works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 26th May 2026 (may continue until 7th July 2026). Alternative route is via: southbound travel on Bluebell Road, Bluebell Road, Eaton Street, Cringleford Bridge, Newmarket Road, Newmarket Road Slip, Newmarket Road/Round House Way Roundabout, Newmarket Road; northbound travel on Bluebell Road: Bluebell Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road, Newmarket Road (Norwich, Cringleford). The works promoter is Vodafone.
SOUTHWELL ROAD – from its junction with Milton Close to its junction with Mill Close to facilitate excavation and rigging works for a pole swap between 08:00 and 18:00 from 26th to 29th May 2026 (may continue until 10th July 2026). Alternative route is via: Southwell Road, Trafalgar Street, Hall Road and vice versa. The works promoter is BT.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
BOWTHORPE ROAD – from 65m southwest of its junction with Dereham Road for 20m south-westwards to facilitate new water connection works between 18:00 and 06:00 from 21st to 22nd May 2026 (may continue until 3rd July 2026). Alternative southwest bound route: Bowthorpe Road, Dereham Road, Guardian Road; Alternative northeast bound route: Bowthorpe Road, Farrow Road, Farrow Road/Colman Road Roundabout, Farrow Road, Guardian Road, Dereham Road, Bowthorpe Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
BULL LANE – from its junction with Queens Road to its junction with All Saints Green to facilitate replacement glazing works, the Road will be temporarily closed, and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload between 08:00 and 17:00 on 17th May 2026 (may continue until 28th June 2026). Alternative route is via: Queens Road, All Saints Green. The works promoter is Norwich Glass Company Ltd.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction there earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
