What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U6188 Cross Lane, Ticehurst)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Cross Lane – from the junction with B2099 High Street to the junction with U6187 Boarders Lane. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6187 Boarders Lane – U6192 Burnt Lodge Lane – U6189 Vineyard Lane – B2099 High Street and vice versa.

The Order commenced 23 July 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 and 21 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C214 Bardown Road, Stonegate)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Bardown Road – from the junction with B2099 Shovers Green to the junction with U6192 Lymden Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C214 Stonegate Road – B2099 Shovers Green, High Street – C83 Church Street, Wardsbrook Road, Myskyns Road, Cottenden Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2188 Hendal Hill/Cherry Gardens Hill, Groombridge)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Hendal Hill/Cherry Gardens Hill – from the junction with C251 Ladies Mile to the junction with B2110 Withyham Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2188 Plumyfeather Lane, Lye Green Road, Church Hill, Black Hill – B2026 High Road, Chuck Hatch Road, Cotchford Hill, Jib Jacks Hill – B2110 High Street, Castlefields, Withyham Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 29 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 29 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C465 Hillswood Road, Frant/U7546 Buttons Lane & Churchsettle Lane/B2100 The Slade, Wadhurst/U7466 Corseley Road, Groombridge & C11 Hastingford Lane, Hadlow Down) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Hillswood Road – from the junction with U7842 Fairview Lane to the junction with C70 Broadwater Forest Lane.

Diversion via C70 Broadwater Forest Lane – U7842 Fairview Lane and vice versa. Restriction will be in place on 9 and 10 June 2026.

Buttons Lane & Churchsettle Lane – from the junction with U7546 Scrag Oak Lane to the junction with U7546 Churchsettle Lane.

Diversion via U7548 Brinkers Lane, Darbys Lane – B2099 Ticehurst Road – C214 Stonegate Road – U7546 Churchsettle Lane and vice versa.

Restriction will be in place between 8 and 16 June 2026.

The Slade – from the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road to the county border.

Diversion via B2100 Cousley Wood Road, Sparrows Green Road – B2099 High Street, Lower High Street, Moseham Hill, Ticehurst Road, Shovers Green, High Street – B2087 Lower Platts, Dale Hill, Berners Hill, Broom Hill, Union Street, High Street – A21(T) – B2169 (KCC) – B2100 (KCC) and vice versa.

Restriction will be in place between 11 and 13 June 2026.

Corseley Road – from the junction with U7466 Forge Road to the junction with C70 Station Road.

Diversion via U7844 Motts Mill – B2188 Cherry Gardens Hill, Hendal Hill – B2110 Withyham Road – C70 Station Road and vice versa.

Restriction will be in place on 8 June 2026.

Hastingford Lane – from the junction with C483 Fordbrook Hill to the junction with U7580 Stocklands Lane.

Diversion via C270 Five Chimneys Lane – A272 The Toll, Pound Green, High Street, Station Road – C402 Hurstwood Road, Chillies Lane – A26 Uckfield Road – C254 Sheep Plain, Hurtis Hill – C11 Fermor Road, Walshes Road and vice versa.

Restriction will be in place between 27 and 31 July 2026.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 1 June 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as set out above.
