NOTICE – THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Proposed Reduction from a Maximum Speed Limit of 40MPH to 30MPH in Various Roads in Guildford
Surrey County Council Propose to make “The Surrey County Council Various Roads in Guildford (Part-Revocation and Amendment) Order 202-”, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to reduce the speed limit imposed on the lengths of road described in the Schedule to this Notice from a 40mph to a 30mph maximum speed limit by virtue of the provision of a system of street lighting, pursuant to Sections 81 and 82(1)(a) of “the Act”.
This proposal will require the amendment and revocation (in part) of “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Guildford) (40MPH Speed Limit) (Amendment and Revocation) Order 2017”.
The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011. Copies of plans showing the lengths of road to which the proposed Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be viewed on-line at:- www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plans-consultations/roads-andtransport-consultations.

The Schedule
Roads in Guildford
a) The entire length of the circulatory carriageway comprised within the roundabout situate at or adjacent to the junctions of the slip roads leading to and from that part of the London-Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3) known as the “Guildford and Godalming By-Pass”, Midleton Road (A25), Surrey Way (D4002) and Aldershot Road (A322) (also known as “Deerbarn Link”) “the Dennis’ Roundabout”, a distance of approximately 284m (but excluding the two slip roads leading to and from the circulatory carriageway comprised in the Dennis’ Roundabout and that part of the London-Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3) known as the “Guildford-Godalming By-Pass”).
b) That length of Woodbridge Road (A322) which extends from its junction with Ladymead (A25) and Midleton Road (A25) (at the north-western side of the 2 Traffic island Sites), south-eastwards for a distance of 26m.
c) The entire length of Woodbridge Road (A25), that lies between its junction with Midleton Road (A25), and its junction with Ladymead (A25) and Woodbridge Road (A322) including that part of Woodbridge Road (A25) comprised within the cross-roads formed by the junction of Woodbridge Road (A25) and Ladymead (A25) with Woodbridge Road (A322) and Europa Park Road “the Woodbridge Road Crossroads”, a distance of approximately 390m.
d) That length of Woking Road (A320) which extends from the cross-roads formed by the junction of Parkway (A25) and Ladymead (A25) with Stoke Road (A320) and Woking Road (A320) “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, northwards to a point 2 metres south of a point immediately below the southern side of the A3 Overbridge including that part of Woking Road (A320) comprised within “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, a distance of approximately 133m.
e) The entire length of Surrey Way (A25) that lies between its junction with Surrey Way (D4002) and Midleton Road (A25), a distance of approximately 92m.
f) That length of the north to south arm of Surrey Way (D4002) which extends from its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised in “the Dennis’ Roundabout”, southwards to Lamp Column No. 3 and the commencement point of the existing 30 mile per hour speed limit in Surrey Way (D4002).
g) The entire length of the east to west and then north-east to south-west arm of Surrey Way (D4002) which lies between its junction with Surrey Way (A25) and its junction with the north to south arm of Surrey Way (D4002), a distance of approximately 33m.
h) That length of Stoke Road (A320) which extends from “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, southwards to the lamp column situated at a point 12m north of the northern kerbline of Josephs Road (D4008) and immediately adjacent to the disused Grave Yard lying opposite and associated with the Church of St John the Evangelist Stoke Road, Guildford including that part of Stoke Road (A320) comprised within “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, a distance of approximately 138m.
i) The entire length of Midleton Road (A25) that lies between its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised in “the Dennis’ Roundabout” and its junction with Woodbridge Road (A25) a distance of approximately 281m.
j) The entire length Ladymead (A25) that lies between the Woodbridge Road Crossroads and the Stoke Road Crossroads including those parts of Ladymead (A25) comprised within “the Woodbridge Road Crossroads” and “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, a distance of approximately 598m.
k) The entire length of Europa Park Road (D4005) (that part of Europa Park Road that is highway maintainable at the public expense and which extends from the northernmost kerb-line of Ladymead (A25) and Woodbridge Road (A25) northwards for a distance of approximately 27m).
l) That length of Aldershot Road (A322) (also known as “Deerbarn Link”) which extends from its junction with the circulatory carriageway comprised in “the Dennis’ Roundabout” north-eastwards and then northwards to a point 70 metres south of the north-eastern side of the traffic island site, a distance of approximately 104m.
m) That length of Parkway (A25) which is comprised within “the Stoke Road Crossroads”, and that extends eastwards for a distance of 298m.
