What is happening?

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the length of road set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the road is closed. Whilst the Order is in force:

- the Weight Restriction Order on Eastland Road will be suspended from its junction with Briton Ferry Road in a northerly direction for approximately 365 metres to its junction with Cimla Road.

-the Weight Restriction Order on B4287 Pontrhydyfen will be suspended from its junction with Tonmawr Road in a southerly direction for approximately 1.5km to its junction with Dan Y Bont.

The Order is necessary to enable National Grid to carry out works in the road and for the Highway Authority to carry out any ancillary maintenance works resulting therefrom.

The Order will come into force on the 25th May 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner.

It is envisaged the works will take 3 days to complete.

SCHEDULES
Victoria Gardens will be closed from its junction with Cimla Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 40 metres along its length.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic south bound from Bryncoch is via Riverside Drive, Gnoll Park Road, St David Street, Orchard Street, London Road, Alford Road, Windsor Road & Briton Ferry Road.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic travelling north bound from Briton Ferry is via Briton Ferry Road, Windsor Road, The Parade, Croft Road, Riverside Drive, Price of Wales Drive & Gnoll Park Road.

The alternative route for traffic travelling north from Skewen will be via Nelson Mandella Way, Briton Ferry Road, Eastland Road and Cimla Road.

Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained.
