(A675 VICTORIA ROAD, GROVE ROAD, WALTON LE DALE, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice. And further the county council are satisfied that these works will take in excess 18 months to execute.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to wait, load, or unload at any time on that length of Grove Road, Walton Le Dale (westbound carriageway only) from a point 64 metres west of its junction with A6 London Road for a distance of 325 metres in a westerly direction.
2. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to wait, load or unload at any time on that length of Bridge Bank, Walton Le Dale from a point 28 metres northwest of its junction with A6 Victoria Road for a distance of 12 metres in a northwest direction.
3. No person shall cause any articulated HGV to proceed over that length of A675 Victoria Road, Walton Le Dale from its junction with Yew Tree Road, Walton Le Dale to its junction with A6 Victoria Road, Walton Le Dale. This prohibition will not affect bus services and rigid vehicles.
4. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over the following lengths of highway;
I. A675 Victoria Road, Walton Le Dale from its junction with A6 Victoria Road to its junction with B6230 Chorley Road.
II. Bridge Terrace, Walton Le Dale from its junction with A6 Victoria Road for its entire length.
III. North Ribble Street, Walton Le Dale from its junction with A6 Victoria Road for its entire length.
IV. South Ribble Street, Walton Le Dale from its junction with A6 Victoria Road for its entire length.
5. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to wait, load or unload at any time on that length of B6230 Hennel Lane, Walton Le Dale (eastbound carriageway only) from its junction with A6 London Way to its junction with B6230 Chorley Road.
6. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
7. The prohibition will be operative from the dates and time specified in the schedule to this order. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
8. The prohibitions in article 5 will be operative on the following dates and times
i. From 0600 hours on Thursday 23rd April 2026 until 1900 hours on Friday 26th June 2026.
ii. From 0600 hours on Monday 3rd August 2026 until 1900 hours on Friday 17th December 2027.
9. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
10. Access to businesses affected by the prohibitions will be maintained.
11. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the prohibitions in article 2 is via:-
B6230 Chorley Road – B6230 Hennel Lane – A6 London Way and Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow major flood defence works to be carried out.
