What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL

TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s): ORDER NO. MCC 149684580 : The City of Manchester (Wilmslow Road Cyclops Junction Multiple, Fallowfield Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Sherwood Street & Ladybarn Road. 

The alternative routes for traffic will be: Signed locally. (Temporary Suspension of Cycle Lane) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order is to suspend the operation of the cycle lane on Sherwood Street, Ladybarn Road and Wilmslow Road thereby permitting the use of that part of the carriageway by all motor vehicles. 

(Temporary Suspension of Parking) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to suspend the operation of the designated parking place on Ladybarn Road Loading Bay. The City Council is satisfied that these prohibitions are necessary in order to facilitate works to upgrade Wilmslow Rd / Sherwood St / Ladybarn Rd junction to a cyclops arrangement. 

It is expected that the works will be in progress from the18th May 2026 to the 25th January 2027. 

The order shall come into operation on the 18th May 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
