What is happening?

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The references to quote are detailed in the schedule.
The Order will come into operation on 1st June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.
However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 8 months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Ramsden Street, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/18521)
From its junction with from its junction with Rawlinson Street, extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 355m.
Alternative Route: via Rawlinson Street, A5087 Salthouse Road, The Strand, Hindpool Road, Cornwallis Street, Lawson Street, Market Street and Duke Street.
2. Park Avenue, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/18801)
From its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 670m.
Alternative Route: via Abbey Road, Park Drive and Greengate Street.
3. Leece Lane, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/18800)
From its junction with Yarlside Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1km.
Alternative Route: via Flass Lane, Rating Lane, Abbey Road, Long Lane, Ulverston Road and Hard Knott Lane and the unrestricted section of Leece Lane.
4. Bridgegate Avenue, Barrow in Furness (Ref:TTROW/18797)
From its junction with Flass Lane, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 385m.
Alternative Route: via Flass Lane, Harrel Lane, Lesh Lane and the unrestricted section of Bridgegate Avenue.
