ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A41 AND A406 GLA ROADS (NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD AND HENDON WAY)

(LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2.The purpose of the Order is to enable Costain electrical survey works take place on the A406 Brent Cross Interchange and the surrounding slip roads.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles from:

(1) entering, exiting or proceeding on A41 Off-Slip-Road connecting the south-eastbound carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout;

(2) entering, exiting proceeding on A41 On-Slip-Road connecting Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with the northbound carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way;

(3) entering, exiting or proceeding on A41 Off-Slip-Road connecting the north-west carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout;

(4) entering, exiting or proceeding on A41 On-Slip-Road connecting with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with Brentfield Gardens and the south-eastbound carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way;

(5) turning left into the unnamed Access Road serving Tiling Road from the A406 Off-Slip-Road connecting the south-westbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road with Tiling Road and Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout;

(6) entering or proceeding on Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout between its junction with the A406 On-Slip Road connecting Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with Cooper Road and the north-eastbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road and its junction with the A41 Off-Slip-Road connecting the north-westbound carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout;

(7) entering or proceeding on Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout between its junction with the A406 On-Slip-Road connecting Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with the south-westbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road and its junction with the A41 Off-Slip-Road connecting the south-westbound carriageway of the A41 Hendon Way with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout.

The Order will be effective between 18th May 2026 and 17 August 2026 every night 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply to any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works, or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes, or anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs:

(For the closure of the A41 Off-Slip-Road linking Hendon Way north-westbound with Brent Cross Interchange and Tiling Road) via Hendon Way southbound, Finchley Road, Avenue Road, Adelaide Road, Finchley Road, Wellington Road, St. John’s Wood Road, Maida Vale, Kilburn High Road, Willesden Lane, High Road, Dudden Hill Lane, A4088, Neasden Lane North and A406 North Circular Road northbound to normal route of travel.

(For the closure of the A41 Off-Slip-Road linking Hendon Way south-eastbound with Brent Cross Interchange Roundabout) via Five Ways corner junction, Great North Way south-eastbound, A406 North Circular Road, Charter Way, Regents Park Road, Finchley Road and Hendon Way to normal route of travel.

(For the closure of the A41 On-Slip-Road connecting Brent Cross Interchange with A41 Hendon Way northbound) via the On-Slip-Road connecting Brent Cross Interchange roundabout with the A406 Brentmead Place northbound and Great North Way northbound to normal route of travel.

(For the closure of the A41 On-Slip-Road linking with Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with Brentfield Gardens) via A406 On-Slip-Road linking Brent Cross Interchange mid-level roundabout with the A406 North Circular Road south-westbound, North Circular Road south-westbound, A406 off-slip-road, linking North Circular Road south-westbound with A4088, Dudden Hill Lane, Willesden Lane, Kilburn High Road, Maida Vale, St. John’s Wood Road, Wellington Road and Finchley Road to normal route of travel.

(For the A406 On Slip Road connecting Brent Cross interchange with the North Circular Road northbound) via A41 On-slip-Road linking Brent Cross Interchange with the A41 Hendon Way north-westbound, Hendon Way, Watford Way, Apex Corner Roundabout, Watford Way southbound, Watford Way and Hendon Way back to normal route of travel.

(For the A406 On-Slip-Road linking Brent Cross Interchange with North Circular Road south-westbound) via Hendon Way southbound, Finchley Road, Avenue Road, Adelaide Road, Finchley Road and Hendon Way to normal route of travel.
