Croydon - Multiple Temporary Road/Footpath Closures - Proposed Speed Humps

LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON
Highways Act 1980, Section 90c - Proposed Speed Humps Ullswater Industrial Estate, Coulsdon
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that they propose to install sinusoidal speed humps on the Ullswater Industrial Estate, as specified in the Schedule to this Notice, to help reduce vehicular speeds and improve road safety.
Persons desiring to object to the proposal should send a statement in writing of their objections and grounds thereof to: The Order Making Section, Parking Design Team, 3rd Floor Zone C, Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA, or by emailing: parking.design@croydon.gov.uk, quoting the reference PD/H13/Ullswater by 03 June 2026.

SCHEDULE
It is intended to place speed humps in the carriageway in accordance with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999. Each hump will span the width of the carriageway and will be a maximum of 75mm high. As a guide these humps will be placed in the following approximate locations.

5. Outside No. 52 / Jewsons (either side of the road island)

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Blenheim Gardens & Cranleigh Gardens, South Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement work by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Blenheim Gardens and Cranleigh Gardens, South Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
• Blenheim Gardens will be closed between its junction with Cranleigh Gardens and the common boundary of 16 Cranleigh Gardens and 13 Blenheim Gardens.
• Cranleigh Gardens will be closed from the common boundary of Nos. 15 and 16 to the common boundary of Nos. 17 and 18 Cranleigh Gardens.
3. The alternative routes for vehicular traffic during the closure will be via: Limpsfield Road, Addington Road and Onslow Gardens, or via Limpsfield Road and Sanderstead Court Avenue.
4. The Order will come into operation on 18 May 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 01 June 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Public Footpath 661 (Extending Between Clifford Road And Carmichael Road, South Norwood) - Temporary Prohibition Of Pedestrian Traffic
1. Croydon Council, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that they have made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrian movements on Footpath No. 661, South Norwood.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Public Footpath No.661 will be closed between its junctions with Carmichael Road and Clifford Road.
3. Whilst the closure is in force, the alternative route for pedestrians will be via Carmichael Road, Clifford Road and reversed.
4. The Order will come into operation on 19 May 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within one day. However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be reintroduced if further work is necessary.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a person involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a person attending for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14, As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 Hill Road, Purley -Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement work by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Hill Road, Purley.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Hill Road will be closed in two halves, between its junctions with Purley Rise and Box Ridge Avenue, and then between its junctions with Box Ridge Avenue and Woodcote Valley Road.
3. During the closures the diversion routes for traffic will be via Woodcote Valley Road, Grovelands Road, Brighton Road, and Purley Rise or via Purley Rise, Brighton Road, Purley Knoll, and Woodcote Valley Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 18 May 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed in approximately six weeks. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle or person carrying out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 Sydenham Road And Burdett Road, Croydon -Temporary Restriction Of Traffic & Parking
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate drainage works, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking in Sydenham Road and Burdett Road, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
(a) Sydenham Road will be closed at its junction with Selhurst Road and Northcote Road.
(b) Parking will be suspended on the south-west (even numbered) side of Burdett Road and waiting and loading restrictions will apply "at any time."
3. During the works the diversion route for traffic will be via Burdett Road, Northcote Road, and reversed, or via Northcote Road, Gloucester Road and Gladstone Road. Access for residents will be maintained.
4. The Order will come into operation on 18 May 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 22 May 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used to carry out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
