TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that the City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 14 May 2026 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6) & (7). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (8), (9), (10), (11), (12) & (13).

(1) CHERRY WOOD CRESCENT, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Cherry Wood Crescent, York between the projected south-western boundaries of property no’s 124 and 130 (closed road) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Friday, 15 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 22 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Fordlands Road.

(2) BELLMANS CROFT, COPMANTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bellmans Croft, Copmanthorpe between the projected south-western boundaries of property no’s 1 and 5 (closed road) during the period when electricity grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Friday, 15 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 22 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(3) MILLFIELD LANE LEVEL CROSSING, POPPLETON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding through that length of road at Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Poppleton (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Sunday, 17 May 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Monday, 18 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicles will be allowed to use the bus gate between Millfield Lane and Low Poppleton Lane, for ingress and egress, without risk of enforcement action, for the works duration only.

(4) MISCELLANEOUS EVENTS, YORK

This Order prohibits traffic restrictions on roads and lengths of roads in the District of York, during the period commencing at 1000hrs on Sunday, 17 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Tuesday, 30 November 2027 associated with the events & locations listed below, taking place at an off-road location to avoid danger or the likelihood of danger arising to persons or other traffic using the various roads.

Upper Poppleton (Sports Day); Upper Poppleton (Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate); Esplanade, York (Dragon Boat Race River Ouse)

(5) SARGENT AVENUE & LANG ROAD, BISHOPTHORPE

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Sargent Avenue & Lang Road, Bishopthorpe (i) on Sargent Avenue between its junction with Lang Road and a location 70 metres south-west of said junction and (ii) on Lang Road between the projected southern boundaries of property no’s 35 and 39 (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 18 May 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Tuesday, 19 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0930hrs and 1530hrs on each day of the works period. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(6) CARMIRES AVENUE, HAXBY

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Carmires Avenue, Haxby (i) between its junction with Windmill Way and a location 40 metres south-east of said junction and (ii) between its junction with Windmill Way and a location 120 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Thursday, 21 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 29 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(7) PROW 15/17/20 (CONTINUATION), KEXBY

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of public right of way on PROW 15/17/20, Kexby (closed public right of way) due to danger arising from an unsafe bridge thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 25 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Tuesday, 03 November 2026 (danger period) or at a time when the danger has been remedied whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure Notice which had an end date of 2359hrs on Sunday, 03 May 2026.

(8) MONKS CROSS LINK, YORK

This Order will restrict vehicles to speeds no greater than 40 mph on Monks Cross Link, York (restricted roads) during the period when housing development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 25 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 27 November 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(9) NORTH LANE, HUNTINGTON

This Order will restrict vehicles to speeds no greater than 30 mph in those lengths of road on North Lane, Huntington on the North Lane road from its roundabout controlled junction with A1237 to the projected eastern boundary of property no. 35 (restricted roads) during the period when housing development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 25 May 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 27 November 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(10) SANDY LANE, STOCKTON ON THE FOREST

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Sandy Lane, Stockton on the Forest between the junction with Holly Tree Garth and the junction with Hazelbush Lane (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Wednesday, 03 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hazelbush Lane, A64, Stockton Lane.

(11) CHAPEL LANE, ASKHAM BRYAN

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Chapel Lane, Askham Bryan between the junction with York Road and the junction with Main Street (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 and ending at 1630hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1630hrs each day of the works period. Alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, Askham Field’s Lane, Main Street.

(12) SCRIVEN GROVE, HAXBY

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Scriven Grove, Haxby between its junction with Carmires Avenue and a location 100 metres east of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Thursday, 04 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

(13) LINLEY AVENUE, HAXBY

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Linley Avenue, Haxby (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Friday, 29 May 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 08 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
