What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (B2136 Langney Road/U2134 Terminus Road/U2133 Bolton Road, Eastbourne)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow O2 Uk Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Langney Road – from the junction with A259 Susans Road to the junction with U2134 Terminus Road.

Terminus Road – from the junction with B2136 Langney Road to the junction with U2133 Bolton Road.

Bolton Road – from the junction with U2134 Terminus Road to the junction with U2135 Lismore Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 Memorial roundabout, South Street, Gildredge Road, Ashford Road – U2139 Susans Road.

The Order commences 17 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 05:00hrs on 17 and 18 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2006 Meads Street, Eastbourne)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Meads Street – from the junction with B2103 Beachy Head Road to the junction with U2005 Matlock Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2006 Meads Street – U2004 Darley Road – B2103 Beachy Head Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 2 June 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 2 and 3 June 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C708 Glynleigh Road, Hankham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Glynleigh Road – from the junction with B2104 Hailsham Road to the junction with C708 Hankham Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C708 Glynleigh Road – B2104 Hailsham Road – B2247 Dittons Road – C712 Rattle Road – C708 Gallows Lane, Hankham Hall Road, Hankham Street and vice versa.

The Order commences 29 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 29 May and 2 June 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2055 College Road/U2060 Hardwick Road/ U2056 Blackwater Road, Eastbourne)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Eastbourne Borough Council to facilitate Eastbourne Tennis Tournament 2026, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

College Road – from the junction with U2056 Blackwater Road to the junction with U2046 Carlisle Road.

Diversion via U2056 Blackwater Road – U2045 Grange Road – U2046 Carlisle Road and vice versa.

Hardwick Road – from the junction with U2056 Blackwater Road to the junction with U2064 Chiswick Place.

Diversion via U2064 Chiswick Place – U2056 Blackwater Road and vice versa.

Blackwater Road – from the junction with U2055 College Road to the junction with U2060 Hardwick Road.

Diversion via U2056 Blackwater Road – U2045 Grange Road – U2046 Carlisle Road – U2051 Wilmington Gardens – U2053 Compton Street – U2060 Hardwick Road – U2064 Chiswick Place and vice versa.

Restriction will be in place from 09:00hrs to 13:00hrs.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 29 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months. However, it is anticipated the closure will be in place between 29 May and 5 July 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A259 Richmond Road &  Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Ban Right Turn) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Richmond Road – from the junction with A259 Eastbourne Road to the junction with A259 Wallsend Road.

Diversion via A259 Eastbourne Road, Pevensey Bay Road, Martello roundabout, Pevensey Bay Road, Crumbles roundabout, Pevensey Bay Road, Langney roundabout, St Anthonys Avenue, Seaside, Seaside roundabout – A2290 Lottbridge Drove, Birch roundabout, Lottbridge Drove – A22 Lottbridge roundabout, Highfield Link, Shinewater roundabout, Golden Jubilee Way, Dittons Road roundabout South, Golden Jubilee Way – A27 Dittons Road roundabout North, Pevensey Bypass, Pevensey Haven roundabout – A259 Bexhill Road, Wallsend Road.

Restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 05:00hrs between 8 and 13 June 2026.

Eastbourne Road – from the junction with U7283 Western Road to the junction with A259 Wallsend Road.

Diversion via A259 Wallsend Road, Bexhill Road – A27 Pevensey Haven roundabout, Pevensey bypass, Dittons Road roundabout North – A22 Golden Jubilee Way, Dittons Road roundabout South, Golden Jubilee Way, Shinewater roundabout, Highfield Link, Lottbridge roundabout – A2290 Lottbridge Drove, Birch roundabout, Lottbridge Drove – A259 Seaside roundabout, Seaside, St Anthonys Avenue, Langney roundabout, Pevensey Bay Road, Crumbles roundabout, Pevensey Bay Road, Martello roundabout, Pevensey Bay Road, Eastbourne Road.

Restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 05:00hrs between 1 and 6 June 2026.

Ban Right Turn

Eastbourne Road – from the junction with A259 Richmond Road to the junction with U7287 Collier Road.

Restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 05:00hrs between 8 and 13 June 2026.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 1 June 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as set out above depending upon the weather conditions.
