Durham - Temporary Road Closure Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (C15 Station Road/Front Street Shotton Colliery) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 330 metre length of C15 Station Road between 8 Marcia Avenue and Southdene Medical Centre (including the area of adopted highway to the front of 1-8 Church View) to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the north western side of the closure from Station Road, west to B1280 Salters Lane, then south and turning east onto Keir Hardie Terrace and Bridge Road, then north on Carlyle Crescent, Friar Street and Potto Street to the south eastern side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 29/5/2026 and anticipated to be completed 3 days, between 7am-7pm daily. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
