The East Sussex (Public Footpath Cuckmere Valley 15e, Cuckmere Valley 15f, Cuckmere Valley 15g, Seaford 33a, Seaford 33b)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026

To protect public safety during Exceat bridge replacement works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpaths:

Temporary Footpath Closure

The whole of Public Footpath Cuckmere Valley 15e will be closed to all users between TQ 5148 0070 and TQ 5135 0036 for a distance of 390 metres.

The whole of Public Footpath Cuckmere Valley 15f will be closed to all users between TQ 5131 0027 and TQ 5121 0011 for a distance of 180 metres.

The whole of Public Footpath Cuckmere Valley 15g will be closed to all users between TQ 5119 0000 and TV 5143 9930 for a distance of 900 metres.

The whole of Public Footpath Seaford 33a will be closed to all users between TQ 5135 0036 and TQ 5131 0027 for a distance of 105 metres.

The whole of Public Footpath Seaford 33b will be closed to all users between TQ 5121 0011 and TQ 5119 0000 for a distance of 115 metres.

An alternative route will be available using footpaths Seaford 25a, Seaford 12, Alfriston 25e, New Bridge (to cross the Cuckmere River), Cuckmere Valley 15d and vice versa.

The closure will be in force for 6 months from 1 June 2026, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpaths still be unavailable to use.

The East Sussex (U5291 Court Farm Road, Newhaven)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Court Farm Road – for its entire length. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 18 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 18 and 22 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Hollow Lane – from the junction with U7669 Hawkhurst Lane to the junction with U7027 Laundry Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7669 Hawkhurst Lane – C13 Moat Lane, Scallows Lane, Waldron Road – U7405 Hollow Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 19 and 21 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Church Hill – from the junction with C601 Kingsley Hill to the junction with C409 White Birch Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C409 White Birch Lane – C16 Marklye Lane – C15 Rushlake Green – C601 Kingsley Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 19 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 19 and 20 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

Mill Lane – from the junction with U7911 Blackdown Lane to the junction with U7598 North Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7598 North Street – U7910 Forest Lane – U7911 Blackdown Lane and vice versa.

Swife Lane – from the junction with C211 Witherenden Road to the junction with A265 Burwash Road.
