Woodlands Crescent - Temporary Road Closure Due To Electricity Cable Replacement Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Woodlands Crescent, Shotley Bridge) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026

The Council on 8/5/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. An 18 metre length of Woodlands Crescent, Shotley Bridge to the side of No. 57 and 59 Woodlands Road to enable electricity cable replacement works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure, a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic to the opposite side of Woodlands Crescent. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 18/5/2026 and are anticipated to be completed in 12 days. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
