What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE COUNTY OF DEVON (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION) 
(NORTHAM ROAD, BIDEFORD) ORDER 2026 TEMPORARY 20MPH SPEED LIMIT 

NOTICE is hereby given that Devon County Council has made the above titled order. From 19/5/26 for a maximum of 18 months. Anticipated Finish 24/12/26. 

No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed at a speed greater than 20 miles per hour on the sections of Affected Roads when temporary traffic signing is in place. 

Roads affected: NORTHAM ROAD, BIDEFORD, (FROM JUNCTION OF CHANTERS ROAD TO FIRST RALEIGH). THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVE ROUTE. 

This temporary restriction is considered necessary to enable: SPEED RESTRICTION FOR SAFE ACCESS TO WORK SITE.

(ROAD FROM VENNS CROSS TO ROCKWELL FARM, WHIMPLE) ORDER 2026 TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC 

NOTICE is hereby given that Devon County Council has made the above titled order. From 18/5/26 for a maximum of 18 months. Anticipated Finish 5/6/26. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed on the sections of Affected Roads. 

Roads affected: ROAD FROM VENNS CROSS TO ROCKWELL FARM, WHIMPLE. 

The alternative, signed, route for vehicles will be via: ROCKWELL FARM TO MILLERS FARM, TALATON CROSS TO BEACON CROSS, AUNK CROSS TO TALATON CROSS, ROAD PAST COURTNEYS FARM, CLAPONMILL TO THREE ELMS CROSS, WESTWOOD SMITHY TO EASTON FARM, WESTWOOD CROSS TO ASHCLYST COTTAGES, FORCHES HEAD TO ASHCLYST FARM, FORCHES HEAD TO WARDS CROSS, WARDS CROSS TO TROWDON, BROADCLYST ROAD, KNOWLE CROSS LANE & VICE VERSA. 

This temporary restriction is considered necessary to enable: EXCAVATE & LAY DUCT FOR SOLAR FARM.
