What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14

THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 50 TO JUNCTION 51) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable electrical works to be carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start on Wednesday 10 June 2026 for 1 night or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the A1(M):

(i) northbound carriageway from the nose of the exit slip at Junction 50 (Ripon Interchange) to the nose of the entry slip at Junction 51 (Leeming Bar) a distance of 17330 metres; and

(ii) northbound entry slip road at Junction 50 (Ripon Interchange).

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance). The Order comes into force on 9 June 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
