What is happening?
LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET
The Barnet (20mph Speed Limit) (No. 1) Traffic Order 2026 - Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 – Section 23 - Highways Act 1980 – Section 90a - Highways Act 1980 – Section 90c
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet have made on 14th May 2026, the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 6 and 84 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
In order to address concerns about speeding, and to improve general road safety, the general effect of the speed limit Order will be to introduce a maximum speed limit of 20mph in the following roads/section of roads:

A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on Thursday 14th May 2026 and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the Order can be obtained, for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, by emailing: parking.consultation@barnet.gov.uk, or by writing to: The Design Team, Highways Section, 3rd Floor, 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any of their provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
