ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A23 GLA ROAD AND SIDE ROAD (PURLEY WAY AND JENNETT ROAD, LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND STOPPING) ORDER 2026
- Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Croydon hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
- The purpose of the Order is to enable gas mains maintenance and refurbishment works to take place on Jennett Road.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:
(1) stopping on Jennett Road between the extended western building line of No. 1 Jennett Road and its junction with the A23 Purley Way;
(2) turning right from the northbound carriageway of the A23 Purley Way onto Jennett Road;
(3) turning right from Jennett Road onto the northbound carriageway of the A23 Purley Way.
The Order will be effective between 8:00 AM on 1st June 2026 and 5:00 PM on 10th June 2026, or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
- The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
- At such times as the prohibitions are in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs for traffic on the northbound carriageway of Purley Way wanting Jennett Road via Purley Way (northbound), Lombard Roundabout and Purley Way (southbound) to normal route of travel. For traffic in Jennett Road wanting to travel northwards on Purley Way via Purley Way (southbound), Stafford Road, Dupas Hill Road, Duppas Hill Lane, Old Town, Roman Way, Mitcham Road and Lombard Roundabout to normal route of travel.
