ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)
Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s): ORDER NO. MCC 149461593 : The City of Manchester (Bridgewater Viaduct, Deansgate Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Bridgewater Viaduct between Chester Road Roundabout & Whitworth Street West.
The alternative routes for traffic will be: Whitworth Street West, Albion Street, City Road East, Great Jackson Street & Dawson Street, Water Street, Liverpool Road.
The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate a crane removal.
It is expected that the works will be in progress on 16th - 18th May 2026 with back-up dates of 6th - 8th June 2026 & 13th - 15th June 2026.
The order shall come into operation on 16th May 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months.
If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
