What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) and (7)

THE A52 TRUNK ROAD (BARROWBY TO SPONDON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A52 Trunk Road, between Barrowby and Spondon, in the Counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, to enable maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close any layby adjacent to -
(a) the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A52 between the centreline of the western underbridge of the roundabout junction of Megaloughton Lane, A6005 Derby Road, Merchant Avenue and the A52 slip roads, at Spondon, and its roundabout junction with Wollaton Valley and Woodside Road, at Wollaton; and

(b) the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A52 between the roundabout junction with the A6200 Derby Road, the A6514 Middleton Boulevard, at Lenton, and its junction with the two-way link road leading to and from the southbound carriageway of the A1, at Barrowby.

The layby closures will be carried out in phases and will be closed between 13:00 hours and 06:00 hours.

The work is expected to start on Friday 5 June 2026 and continue for approximately seven weeks.

The Order will come into force on 29 May 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes, and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.
