What is happening?
A20 TRUNK ROAD (WHITE HORSE HILLTO COURTWOOD INTERCHANGE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A20 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to:-
1. authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A20 between White Horse Hill and Court Wood Interchange (B2011) and all slip roads leading to and from this length of carriageway; and
2. authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-bys adjacent to both carriageways of the A20 between White Horse Hill and Court Wood Interchange; These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge repairs and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 months done in two phases starting on or after Monday 8th June 2026. Overnight closures would take place between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 6th June 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the A2 and Local Authority roads.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when it is in operation during the works period.
