SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Rushmead Lane, Marshfield) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Rushmead Lane which extends from a point 300m north east of West Littleton Road north eastwards for 250m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new telecom poles installation works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Tormarton Road, A420 Chippenham Road, West Littleton Road and vice versa.

(A38 Gloucester Road, Alveston and Grovesend)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of A38 Gloucester Road which extends from B4061 to Grovesend Road. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with Active Travel CRSTS works. The order became operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am. 

Alternative route: A38 (part unaffected), B4427, B4059, B4058, B4509, A38 (part unaffected) and vice versa.

(Lower Station Road, Staple Hill) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Lower Station Road which extends from High Street southwards for 70m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with fibre works. The order became operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 days duration. 

No alternative route available: Dead end road.

(Gloucester Road, Patchway and Gloucester Road North, Filton) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Right Turn) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has:- a) closed, temporarily, to vehicles the length of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and 

b) prohibited, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this notice from making a right turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon works to the carriageway and replacement of streetlighting lanterns and cabling in connection with A38 flyover works. 

The order became operative from 18 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 18 months duration. See Schedule 3 for alternative routes.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Station Road which extends from a point 575m north of Chase Lane northwards for 90m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon vegetation clearance works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 19 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

Alternative route: Station Road (parts unaffected), The Downs, Wotton Road, Charfield Road, Old Rectory Road, Wickwar Road and vice versa.

(West Street, Tytherington) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of West Street which extends from a point 50m south west of The Orchard south westwards for 75m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with fibre overhead cabling works. 

The order became operative from 20 May 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. No alternative route available. 

(Empire Crescent, Hanham) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Empire Crescent which extends from Hillcroft Close south eastwards for 30m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon duct laying works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 8 June 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration, between 8am and 5pm.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Trench Lane which extends from B4427 north westwards for 150m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon surfacing works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 8 June 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration, between 8pm and 6am. 

Alternative route: B4427, Perrinpit Road, B4058, B4057, A38, Bradley Stoke Way, Woodlands Lane, Trench Lane and vice versa.

(Footpath Charles Avenue, Stoke Gifford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Footpath Charles Avenue which extends from Charles Avenue to Sandringham Road. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon voltage cable laying works. The order will be operative from 8 June 2026 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. 

Alternative route: Sandringham Road Footpath, Hatchet Road Footpath, Footpath between Hatchet Road and Gatcombe Road.

(Nibley Lane, Westerleigh) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Nibley Lane which extends from Westerleigh Road to Badminton Road. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon renewal of damaged palisade fencing works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 10 June 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 nights duration, between 11:30pm and 5am. 

Alternative route: Badminton Road, Westerleigh Road and vice versa.

(North Road, Winterbourne) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of North Road which extends from Factory Road north westwards for 150m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with duct laying works. 

The order will be operative from 11 June 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration. 

Alternative route: North Road, Watleys End Road, Salem Road, Factory Road and vice versa.

(A4174, Hambrook) (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 202(-) 

Details of the proposed changes
NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: a) confirm the extents of the bus lane prohibiting vehicles, other than cycles, dial-a-ride buses, motorcycles, taxis, private hire vehicles (with roof top signs) and public service vehicles (buses) from entering, proceeding or waiting in that length of the A4174 westbound carriageway Hambrook, approaching M32 junction; b) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (A4174, Hambrook) (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 1998; and c) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (A4174, Hambrook) (Reserved Bus Lane) (Variation) Order 2014. 

Exemptions provided in the order include exemptions for any vehicle to enter proceed or wait in the bus lane for the removal of obstruction to traffic; police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; the avoidance of an accident and access to or egress from off street loading or garaging facilities.

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32 and 35 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: a) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of Bennett Close, Golding Close, Rendell Road and Watson Way, Almondsbury; and b) provide a designated doctors’ parking place, for dedicated use for all on duty medical and care staff, in Rendell Road, Almondsbury.

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge.

Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(1) and (2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: a) remove a short length of the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane on Bromley Heath Road; b) extend a length of the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane extending from the A4174 Avon Ring Road westbound exit of Wick Wick Roundabout; c) remove a short length of the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane extending from the A4174 Avon Ring Road westbound exit of M32, Junction 1; d) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) in lengths of A4174 Ring Road at Bromley Heath; e) vary further the South Gloucestershire Council (Southern Brooks Area) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2012, as varied, in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in item d) above, the provisions of which will be brought forward into the new order; f) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (A4174 Avon Ring Road, Bromley Heath Area) (High Occupancy Vehicle Lane) (AM Peak Hours) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2001; and g) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (A4174 Avon Ring Road, Coldharbour Lane to M32 Junction 1, South Gloucestershire) (High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes) (24 Hours) Order 2011.
