East Lothian - Various Speed Limit Amendments
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
EAST LOTHIAN COUNCIL VARIOUS SPEED LIMIT AMENDMENTS
East Lothian Council gives notice that it intends to make Orders under Sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by The Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to vary speed limits at the following locations: -
• A198 east and west of Lyars Road junction, Longniddry – Reduce speed limit to 40mph to assist pedestrians and cyclists to cross
• B1377 at Harelaw Stables, Longniddry – Extend existing 40mph speed limit to include frontage of stables
• B6363 Coal Road, Longniddry – Introduce a 40mph reduced speed limit in advance of existing 30mph speed limit
• Dean Road, Longniddry between B1348 and Kings Avenue – Reduce speed limit to 40mph
• B1348 east of Seton Sands – Introduce a 40mph speed limit in advance of existing 30mph speed limit
• At Pearlstane Steading, Elphinstone – Extend existing 40mph speed limit on B6414 northwards along the C71 to include Pearlstane Steading
• A199 at new Taylor Wimpey Housing Development, Dolphingstone - extend existing 30mph speed limit to include the frontage of new Housing Development
• Ravensheugh Brae, Musselburgh – Introduce new 20mph speed limit in new Housing Development
• Haddington Road, North Berwick – Extend 20mph speed limit southwards to new Housing Development at Pilgrims Way and introduce new 40mph speed limit in advance of proposed new 20mph limit
• B1345, Drem - Reduce the existing 40mph speed limit to 30mph and introduce new 40mph speed limits in advance of new 30mph limit
• A198 Tyninghame - Extend existing 40mph speed limit northwards to Lawhead junction
• Old A1 at Haines Drive, Dunbar – Introduce new 20mph speed limit from west of Yosemite Park eastwards to end of cul-de-sac
A copy of the proposed Order, Schedule, plans showing the extent of the restrictions and the statement of reasons for making the Order can be viewed on the council’s website at www.eastlothian.gov.uk and on www.tellmescotland.gov.uk
These documents are available for inspection for the period from Monday 18th May to Friday 6th June 2026
Any person may before expiry of the period noted above object to the making of the Order.
