WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL)
INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(SULHAM HILL, SULHAM)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Sulham Hill in Sulham between its junction with Sulham Lane and its junction with Nunhide Lane.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Mill Lane, A340 Road Known as Theale Road, A340 The Street, A340 Tidmarsh Road, A340 Church Road, A329 High Street, A329 The Square, A329 Reading Road, A329 Purley Rise, A329 Reading Road, Long Lane, Dark Lane, Overdown Road, Lower Elmsstone Drive, Chapel Hill, Sulham Hill and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out chamber, cover and valve repair works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 19th May 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 19th and 21st May 2026.
(HIGH STREET/THEALE)
(TEMPORARY ONE-WAY RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding west along High Street in Theale between its junction with Station Road and its junction with Hoad Way.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the One-Way Order is via High Street, Station Road, Station Road/A4 Link Road Roundabout, Station Road/Brunel Road Roundabout, Brunel Road, Waterside Drive/Brunel Road Roundabout, Waterside Drive, A4 Bath Road/Arlington Business Park Roundabout, Hoad Way.
The purpose of this One-Way Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for UK Utility Connections Limited to install new water utility connections.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 23rd May 2026. It is envisaged that the One-Way restriction will be in place between 23rd and 31st May 2026.
(BURGHFIELD FOOTPATH 8, BURGHFIELD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS AND EQUESTRIANS) ORDER 2026
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order in accordance with section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit any use of the following footpath, namely Burghfield Footpath 8, Burghfield, between its junction with Reading Road and its junction with James Lane.
There is no alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians and vehicles affected by this order.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the footpath, namely for Wentworth Moling Services to install 2x new water supply pipes in the footpath.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 1st June 2026. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 1st and 10th June 2026.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the sooner, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected.
