What is happening?

A21 TRUNK ROAD (CHIPSTEAD)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A21 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order is to authorise the weekend closure of the link road connecting from the southbound carriageway of the A21 to the westbound carriageway of the A25 at Chipstead Interchange.

This measure is in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge replacement and all associated works.

It is expected that the work will be done in two phases.

First weekend phase in May and a second weekend phase in August, with contingency weekends scheduled if necessary, starting on or after Friday 29th May 2026.

The full weekend closures will take place between 20:00 on Fridays and 06:00 on Mondays (maximum periods).

The Order will come into force on 27th May 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted southbound on the A21 to Morley’s Roundabout and return.

The temporary closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
