What is happening?
T10021 Townpath – Avenue Road, Caterham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit pedestrians and/or other traffic proceeding on foot or by any means from entering or proceeding in the entire length of T10021 Townpath – Avenue Road, Caterham, which extends from its junction with Avenue Road to its junction with Oak Road.
This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate pavement reconstruction works and/or major maintenance works which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 6 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 4 June 2026.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. No sole means of access to any premises will be affected.
Alternative Route – D1399 Avenue Road, D1399 Westway, D1399 Money Road, B2030 Banstead Road and D1400 Oak Road.
D279 Lyefield Lane, Forest Green
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2026
Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D279 Lyefield Lane, Forest Green which extends from its junction with Public Footpath No.54 (Abinger) southwards for a distance of 300m.
This Traffic Order is required to enable BT Openreach to carry out telegraph pole replacement and/or to carry out cabling works.
These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 6pm within 1 day of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 3 June 2026.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Access for residents, businesses, pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times under direction of site operatives.
Alternative Route – Lower Breache Road, North Breache Lane and Ockley Road.

Public Footpath No. 119 (Godstone)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
The Surrey County Council Public Footpath No. 119 (Godstone) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025 was made on the grounds of public safety due to works being undertaken on or near the highway. The Order came into operation on 10 November 2025.
It was due to expire on 10 May 2026 but has now been continued in force by the Secretary of State for Transport for 12 months until 10 May 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier.
The Order as continued prohibits all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding in that length of Public Footpath No.119 (Godstone) from grid ref: 535032 152492 grid ref: 534781 152740 shown as a black bold line on plan ref: 3/1/26/H40.
The prohibition described above will only be operative while the County Council, or an authorised person acting on its behalf, displays signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (S.I. 2002 No. 3113) prohibiting the said movements. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route for traffic from grid ref: 535032 152492 will be to head south on the B2235 for 313 metres, then continue south on the A25 for 392 metres before following the A25 south west for 119 metres to Public Footpath 122 (Bletchingley). Then head north west for 903 metres on Public Footpath 122 (Bletchingley) and Public Footpath 122 (Bletchingley), continue North on North Park Lane for 65 metres. Then follow Public Footpath 121 (Bletchingley) and Public Footpath 121 (Godstone) for 633 metres, then continue East for 82 metres to grid ref: 534781 152740.

Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords & Sidlow)
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
The Surrey County Council Public Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords & Sidlow) Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made due to a likelihood of danger to the public caused by the surface of the railway crossing becoming damaged and unsafe.
The order came into operation on 10 November 2023 and was due to expire on 10 May 2024. It was then extended by the Secretary of State for Transport to allow for repairs to be carried out until 10 May 2025, and for the second time until 10 May 2026.
It has now been extended by the Secretary of State for Transport for the third time, until 10 May 2027, or the completion of works, whichever is earlier.
The order, as continued, will have the effect of prohibiting all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of Footpath 392 (Horley/Salfords & Sidlow) where it crosses the railway line, for approximately 180 metres to the east of its junction with the A23/Bonehurst Road, Horley (Grid ref. 528596, 144843).
The temporary closure will only be in operation while appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the county council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.
The alternative route from the western end of the closure will be: Turn around and proceed in a south-westerly direction to reach A23/Bonehurst Road.
Turn left onto Bonehurst Road and proceed in a southerly direction to reach the junction with Ladbroke Road.
Turn left onto Ladbroke Road and proceed along Ladbroke Road, then Langshott in an easterly direction to reach the junction with Orchard Drive. Turn right onto Orchard Drive and proceed in a northerly direction to reach the junction with Footpath 392.
Turn left onto Footpath 392 and proceed in a westerly direction to reach the eastern end of the closure. The alternative route from the eastern end of the closure will be the reverse of the above.
