ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
(CHEQUERFIELD AVENUE, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 145) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for highway excavation to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Chequerfield Avenue, Pontefract, approximately 27 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Chequerfield Avenue.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: N/A.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 18th May 2026 at 08.00 hours to 22nd May 2026 at 17.00 hours or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(BARNSLEY ROAD, HEMSWORTH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 162) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for new electrical connection fuse upgrade on behalf of Northern Powergrid to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Barnsley Road, Hemsworth one way for approximately 50 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Barnsley Road.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Barnsley Road, Market Street, Kirkby Road, Hemsworth Road, Hemsworth Bypass, Barewell Hill, Barnsley Road & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 1st June 2026 to 3rd June 2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(MOUNTBATTEN AVENUE, PONTEFRACT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 147) 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds to rectify a defect on faulty reinstatement to be carried out as follows:-

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Mountbatten Avenue, Pontefract, approximately 30 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Mountbatten Avenue.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Walton Lane, Barnsley Road, Chevet Lane, Walton Station Lane, Mountbatten Avenue & vice versa.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 18th May 2026 to 20th May 2026 08.00 hours to 18.00 hours or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

Access to the premises on the closed length of road will be maintained whenever possible.

(FOOTPATH 12, OFF COMMON LANE, KNOTTINGLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER (NO 342) 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield by reason of works to allow for pedestrian safety around building works to be carried out on or near Footpath 12, off Common Lane, Knottingley, and the likelihood of danger arising to the public, has made an Order the effect of which is that no person shall proceed in the length of public footpath.

Alternative route for pedestrians: Common Lane, Springfields Avenue & vice versa.

The order comes into operation on 4th November 2025 to 4th November 2026.

The closure was originally in force until the 22nd March 2026, and was extended until the 3rd May 2026, however it has become necessary to extend it until the 4th November 2026 as above.
