What is happening?

Somerset Council Various Roads, Wellington in the Parishes of Wellington and Wellington Without (Temporary 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 30mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 28th day of May 2026 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are expected to commence on the 1st day of June 2026 to the 24th day of July 2026 (between 0000 hours and 2359 hours) to enable Wales and West Utilities to carry out gas main replacement works. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles. Exeter Road, Wellington - From its junction with the A38 Perry Elm Roundabout in a north easterly direction for a distance of 26 metres

A38 Perry Elm Roundabout, Wellington - For its entire length

A38 Exeter Road, Wellington - From its junction with the A38 Perry Elm Roundabout in a westerly direction for a distance of 300 metres

A38 Wellington Relief Road, Wellington - From its junction with the A38 Perry Elm Roundabout in a south easterly direction for a distance of 300 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road

or

b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
