What is happening?

THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS) (BUS LANES AND BUS ROADS) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2026 (P019-25)


1. Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council made the above Order on 12 May 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to:
To consolidate existing traffic orders into a single order without making any changes to the highway:
i. The Portsmouth City Council (Various Roads) (Bus, Taxi and Cycle Lanes and Prohibition of Driving Except Buses, Taxis and Cycles) (No.17) Consolidation Order 2016
ii. The Portsmouth City Council (City Centre) (Bus Gates, One Way, Speed Limit, and Waiting & Loading Restrictions) (No.40) Order 2023
iii. The Portsmouth City Council (Lake Road) (Waiting Restrictions and Bus Lane) (No.39) (Part 2) Order 2023
iv. The Portsmouth City Council (Mile End Road) (Bus Lane Reduction) (No.94) Order 2016
v. The Portsmouth City Council (Isambard Brunel Road) (Bus Lane) Order 2025
vi. The Portsmouth City Council (Mile End Road) (Bus Lane Amendment) (No.49) Order 2022
vii. The Portsmouth City Council (Various Roads) (Bus Gates and Bus Lanes) Order 2024
viii. The Portsmouth City Council (Lake Road and Commercial Road) (Bus Lane, Waiting and Loading Restrictions) Order 2024
2. A copy of the made Order is available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2026’ at

www.portsmouth.gov.uk.

Alternatively, it can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. A printed copy can be obtained by calling 023 9260 6480.
3. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
4. This Order comes into operation on 15 May 2026.
