ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(2) AND 22(C)
THE KIA OVAL CRICKET GROUND, KENNINGTON, TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS BOWLING GREEN STREET, CLAYTON STREET, HARLEYFORD ROAD, HARLEYFORD STREET, KENNINGTON OVAL, AND VAUXHALL GROVE, VAUXHALL STREET
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth, in agreement with Transport for London, has made a temporary traffic order, the general effect of which will be to: -
(a) apply in a modified form the provisions of The Lambeth (Free Parking Places, Loading Places and Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions) Order 2023 so that waiting (including for the purpose of loading and unloading) and stopping will be prohibited at any time in Clayton Street, Durham Street and Kennington Oval;
(b) prohibit vehicles, including cycles, from entering or proceeding in:
1. Bowling Green Street, between its junction with Magee Street and Kennington Oval;
2. Harleyford Road, between its junction with Durham Street and its junction with Kennington Oval;
3. Harleyford Street, between its junction with Kennington Oval and its junction with Kennington Park Road;
4. Kennington Oval, its eastern, southern and western arms, between its junction with Clayton Street and its junction with Vauxhall Street.
(c) prohibit vehicles, including cycles, from entering:-
1. Bowling Green Street at its junction with Kennington Road;
2. Clayton Street at its junction with Kennington Road;
3. Vauxhall Grove at its junction with Harleyford Road;
4. Vauxhall Street at its junction with Kennington Lane.
(d) suspend designated parking places in Clayton Street, Durham Street and Kennington Oval;
(e) prohibit vehicles proceeding in Windmill Row in a direction other than north-west to south-east;
(f) suspend the bus lanes and cycle lanes on Harleyford Road, Harleyford Street and Kennington Oval.
2. The restrictions are necessary because of the likelihood of danger to the public caused by an increase in traffic and parked vehicles at certain times in the vicinity of The Kia Oval Cricket Ground, Kennington.
3. Alternative routes will be available for vehicles affected by the prohibitions described in Article 1 above:-
(a) for traffic generally travelling in a south-east direction via Kennington Lane, Windmill Row, Kennington Road, Kennington Park Road and Brixton Road;
(b) for traffic generally travelling in a north-west direction via Camberwell New Road, Vassall Road, Brixton Road, Kennington Park Road, Kennington Road, Kennington Lane, Durham Street and Harleyford Road.
4. The prohibitions and one-way systems will only apply at such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by the placing of the appropriate traffic signs.
5. The Order would come into force on 22 May 2026 and will continue in force until 27 September 2026, although in practice they will only have effect on the occasion of certain cricket matches and other events at The Kia Oval Cricket Ground, Kennington.
