What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND (7)

THE A5 TRUNK ROAD (CANNOCK, STAFFORDSHIRE) 
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A5 Trunk Road, at Cannock, in the County of Staffordshire, to enable water main repair works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close the eastbound carriageway of the A5 from its roundabout junction with the A4601 Wolverhampton Road, to its roundabout junction with the A460 Eastern Way and Lodge Lane, at Cannock.

The work will be carried out between 21:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Tuesday 9 June 2026 and continue for one night. The Order will come into force on 2 June 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes, and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closure. A diversion route via the A4061 Wolverhampton Road and the A460 Lodge Lane will be signed.

THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 14) (SLIP ROAD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the County of Staffordshire, to enable a new service area to be constructed nearby.

The effect of the Order will be to close the slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the M6 at Junction 14.

The closure will be carried out overnight only between 21:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Monday 8 June and continue for approximately six months. The Order will come into force on 1 June 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closure.

A diversion route via an alternative junction of the M6 will be signed.

THE A5 TRUNK ROAD (GAILEY, STAFFORDSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an Order on the A5 Trunk Road in the County of Staffordshire, to enable BT works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close the A5 between its roundabout junction with the A449 (Gailey Island), and its roundabout junction with the M6 Junction 12 slip roads (Gailey Interchange), at Gailey.

The closure will be carried out overnight only between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours and is expected to start on Tuesday 26 May 2026 and continue for approximately five days. The Order will come into force on 19 May 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closure.

Diversion routes using the A449, the A460, the A4601, Wolverhampton Road, the A5 and vice versa will be signed. Local diversion routes will also be in operation.
