(40MPH Speed Limit) (Part-Revocation and Amendment) Order 2026
On 07 May 2026 Surrey County Council made the above named Order, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, which will come into force on 14 May 2026, the effect of which will be to:-
1. Reduce the speed limit imposed on the lengths of road described in the First Schedule to this Notice from a 50mph to a 40mph maximum speed limit.
2. Reduce the speed limit imposed on the length of road described in the Second Schedule to this Notice from a 40mph to a 30mph maximum speed limit by virtue of the provision of a system of street lighting, pursuant to Sections 81 and 82(1)(a) of “the Act”.
This required amendment of: – ““The Surrey County Council Various Roads in The Borough of Surrey Heath (30MPH 40MPH and 50MPH Speed Limits) Order 2013” and “The Borough of Surrey Heath Guildford Road and Lightwater Road, Lightwater (Speed Limits) Order 1995”. Note: – As part of these proposals the existing 40mph/50mph terminal speed limit signs at the property boundary between “No. 256 Upper Chobham Road” and “No. 37 Wensleydale Drive” shall be corrected to reflect the 40mph maximum speed limit imposed on that length of B311 Upper Chobham Road, Camberley that extends from its junction with The Maultway and Red Road by virtue of part III to Schedule 2 to “The Borough of Surrey Heath Various Roads (Camberley Deepcut and Frimley)(Speed Limits) (No.1) Order 1985”.
The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011. Copies of plans showing the lengths of road to which the Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be viewed together with a copy of the made Order and the amended Orders, may be viewed during normal opening hours at: –
(1) Camberley Library, Knoll Road, Camberley, Surrey GU15 3SY;
(2) Lightwater Library, 83A Guildford Road, Lightwater, Surrey GU18 5SB; and
(3) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ.
First Schedule
(i) That length of B3015 The Maultway, Camberley that extends from a point 85m south-east of the centre of its south-eastern junction with D3464 Maultway Crescent, to its junction with B3015 Deepcut Bridge Road and D3488 Old Bisley Road; to include that part of B3015 The Maultway that is comprised within the circulatory carriageway at its roundabout junction with B311 Red Road and B311 Upper Chobham Road.
(ii) That length of B311 Red Road, Lightwater that is comprised within the circulatory carriageway at its roundabout junction with B3015 The Maultway, and that extends eastwards to a point 61m west of its junction with A322 Guildford Road.
(iii) That length of C4 Lightwater Road, Lightwater that extends from its junction with B311 Red Road, north-east to a point 19m northeast of the centreline of the un-named private road serving the properties “Leafy Hallow”, “Hollybank”, “Helendale” and “Carrigaline”.
Second Schedule
(i) That length of C4 Lightwater Road, Lightwater that extends from a point 44m south-west of the intersection of the prolongations of the south-eastern kerb-line of Lightwater Road and the southwestern kerb-line of C5 Guildford Road, south-westwards to a point 19m north east of the centreline of the un-named private road serving the properties “Leafy Hallow”, “Hollybank”, “Helendale” and “Carrigaline”.
