THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

Temporary Traffic Management Order - (Heathway, Dagenham) (Temporary Prohibition Of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 - Notice Of Making

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate removal of existing pedestrian islands, kerb realignment and carriageway resurfacing works, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham has made a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The order is expected to come into effect on Monday 1 June 2026. The works expected for:
• Removal of existing pedestrian islands, kerb realignment, carriageway resurfacing to take 84 days to complete. Completion date estimated as Sunday 23 August 2026 with the work expected to be undertaken in 7 phases between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.

However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily: –
Phases 1 (1 June – 10 July 2026) and 5 (13 July – 21 August 2026)
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Heathway, southbound carriageway, from its junction with Reede Road to its junction with Church Elm Lane.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Heathway, southbound carriageway straight ahead and left turning lane, from the common boundary of Nos. 294 and 296 Heathway to the common boundary of numbers Nos. 302 and 304 Heathway.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Parsloes Avenue, south-eastbound carriageway right turning lane, from a point 9 metres northwest of its junction with Heathway to the common boundary of numbers Nos. 4 and 6 Parsloes Avenue.
- Introduce a one-way in Heathway, northbound carriageway (in a northerly direction) from its junction with Church Elm Lane to its junction with Reede Road.

Phases 2 (6 June – 7 June 2026), 3 (13 June – 14 June 2026), 4 (20 June – 21 June 2026), 6 (15 August – 16 August 2026) and 7 (22 August – 23 August 2026)
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Heathway, both sides, from its junction with Reede Road to its junction with Church Elm Lane.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Heathway, southbound carriageway straight ahead and left turning lane, from the common boundary of Nos. 294 and 296 Heathway to the common boundary of numbers Nos. 302 and 304 Heathway.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Parsloes Avenue, south-eastbound carriageway right turning lane, from a point 9 metres northwest of its junction with Heathway to the common boundary of numbers Nos. 4 and 6 Parsloes Avenue.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Church Elm Lane, westbound carriageway, from a point 12.5 metres east of its junction with Heathway for a distance of 37 metres in an easterly direction.
- Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Heathway, northbound carriageway straight ahead lane, from a point 14.5 metres south of its junction with Hedgemans Road for a distance of 33.5 metres in a southerly direction.

4. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:
• For all Phases via Church Lane, Siviter Way, Church Lane, Ballards Road (B178), Rainham Road South (A1112), Reede Road and vice versa.

5. Alternative routes for Heavy Goods Vehicles will be maintained and signed:
• Via Wood Lane (A124), Porters Avenue (A1153), Lodge Avenue (A1153) and vice versa.
• Via Wood Lane (A124), Rainham Road North (A1112), Rainham Road South (A1112), Rainham Road (A125) and vice versa.
