1. (LETCOMBE BASSETT & WEST CHALLOW, GREEN ROAD BOAT NOS. 274/6/10 & 20 TO 399/10/10 & 20) (SEASONAL PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND CARRIAGES) ORDER 20**

2. (LETCOMBE REGIS & WEST CHALLOW, BOAT NOS. 399/13/10 & 275/3/10) (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND CARRIAGES) ORDER 20**

Notice is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.

Order 1 – which has been put forward as the route has suffered repeated and severe surface damage during wet winter periods, with the damage rendering the route unsafe and frequently impassable – seeks to prohibit motor vehicles with four or more wheels & Horse Drawn carriages, where both are wider than 1.6m [approx.5ft 2in] – from using Green Road in Letcombe Bassett & West Challow, between its junctions with the B4001 Middleway Bottom to the west, and Windmill Hill to the east, on a seasonal basis between 1st October & 30th April.

During the restricted period, use will continue to be permitted for emergency services, pedestrians, cycles, horses, motorcycles, disabled persons wheelchairs and powered mobility conveyances, and for access by agricultural land users and highway maintenance vehicles, recovery vehicles and refuse collection.

Order 2 – which has been put forward to protect the physical condition of the route, safeguard vulnerable users, and ensure the byway can be managed sustainably – seeks to prohibit motor vehicles with four or more wheels & Horse Drawn carriages, where both are wider than 1.6m [approx.5ft 2in] – all year round from using the Letcombe Regis & West Challow BOAT (Nos.399/13/10 & 275/3/10) between its junction with the B4507 to the north, and its junction with Bassett Road in Letcombe Regis to the south.

Use will continue to be permitted for emergency services, pedestrians, cycles, horses, motorcycles, disabled persons wheelchairs and powered mobility conveyances, and for access by agricultural land users and highway maintenance vehicles, recovery vehicles and refuse collection.

Appropriate signage will be displayed at all access points to inform byway users.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 12 June 2026.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

North Moreton, Wallingford Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 1 June 2026

Coming into force: 8 June 2026

This Order is being introduced because of Thames Water utility repair and maintenance works which are anticipated to be completed 16 June 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Wallingford Road near Melhuish Farm and Donkton. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Wallingford Road, A4130, Long Wittenham Road, Wallingford Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17899/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Wantage, Mayfield Avenue Footpath

Date of Order: 11 May 2026

Coming into force: 25 May 2026

This Order is being introduced because of essential gas mains replacement works which is starting on 25 May 2026 and anticipated to complete by 12 June 2026. The effect of the Order is to temporarily close that part of the footpath between Mayfield Avenue and No. 20 Meadow Close. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route is via Mayfield Avenue, Harlington Avenue, Meadow Close and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17794/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Grove, Footpath Lime Tree Close

Date of Order: 26 May 2026

Coming into force: 1 June 2026

This Order is being introduced because of electrical maintenance on behalf of SSEN which is anticipated to be completed on 10 July 2026. This is a 24 hour footpath closure. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of the footpath in front of Nos.2–8 Lime Tree Close.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. Access will be maintained for residents. The alternative route will be signed locally. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The order will remain in force for 6 months or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17705/RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Radley, Sugworth Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 11 May 2026

Coming into force: 18 May 2026

This Order is being introduced because of essential gas main replacement works which is anticipated to take 6 weeks to be completed. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of Sugworth Lane from outside No.32 to the junction with Oxford Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The diversion for this closure is via Oxford Road – Bagley Wood Road – St Swithun’s Road – The Avenue – Kennington Road – Sugworth Lane and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17458/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Blewbury, Bohams Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 11 May 2026

Coming into force: 19 May 2026

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing works which is anticipated to take 3 weeks to be completed. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in the section of Bohams Road between the junction with the A417 London Road in Blewbury and the end of the adopted highway. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. There is no diversion for this closure as the closure is a dead end.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17558/MR)

Grove, Letcombe Walk

Date of Order: 18 May 2026

Came into force: 25 May 2026

This Order is being introduced because of essential electrical maintenance works on behalf of SSEN and the estimated duration of this closure is 3 months. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily part of Letcombe Walk from outside Nos. 2 to 13. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the Works. The diversion route is via along Lime Tree footpaths and footway and then Marygreen. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The order will remain in force for 6 months or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17696/MR)

Grove, Footpath to side of 10 Lime Tree Close

Date of Order: 18 May 2026

Came into force: 25 May 2026

This Order is being introduced because of essential electrical maintenance works on behalf of SSEN and the estimated duration of this closure is 3 months. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily footpath to the west side of 10 Lime Tree Close. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the Works. The diversion route is via Letcombe Walk and Marygreen. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The order will remain in force initially for 6 months or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17697/MR)

Notice of Temporary Footpath Closure

Wantage, Boat 391/46/10

Date of Order: 25 May 2026

Came into force: 1 June 2026

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing works that is anticipated to be completed within 6 months working in stages. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily the Byway Open to all Traffic No.391/46/10 between Charlton Village Road and Rutherford Road, Wantage. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the Works. The footpath will be reinstated when works are complete. There will be no signed diversion route – alternative access will need to be found using residential roads Primrose Avenue and Elder Way to reach Reading Road. The BOAT will only be closed when work is taking place with clear highways signage and advance notice of the exact dates posted on site when known. The works are expected to take 2–3 weeks only, meaning for much of the 6-month period there will be no works taking place and the route will remain open. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The order will remain in force initially for 6 months or until the works are complete whichever is the sooner.
