Temporary Closure of Hewish Gates

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along: Hewish Gates - from 142 metres west of the junction with Clapton Road, westwards for a total distance of 126 metres. This Order will enable Network Rail to carry out level crossing maintenance works.

The Order becomes effective on 27th May 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 6th June 2026 and last until 7th June 2026 between the hours of 23:30 - 07:30 for a total of 1 night.
