(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN the Nottinghamshire County Council HAS MADE an ORDER, under Sections 14 and 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:
To continue the effects of THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (COLSTON BASSETT FOOTPATH NO.8) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) NOTICE 2026. That Notice came into force on 23rd April 2026 and continued in force to 13th May 2026.
The effects are that:-
No person shall:-
(a) proceed on foot, in the following length of Footpath at Colston Bassett in the Borough of Rushcliffe.
Colston Bassett Footpath No.8 from where it meets the River Smite at SK69684 32306 to where it veers away from the River Smite at SK 69673 31776.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the alternative route available for pedestrians will be as follows:-
There is no alternative route via Public Rights of Way.
IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition respecting the above highway or highways will apply as follows:-
To 24th October 2026 inclusive.
The Continuation Order will come into force on 14th May 2026 and any prohibition contained in the continued Order shall apply on that day and on any subsequent day or days when it shall be necessary for the prohibition to apply to enable works to be carried out and the Order shall continue in full force until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed The duration of this Order may be extended with the approval of the relevant Secretary of State.
The prohibition is required to protect public safety until essential repairs can be completed toa timber footbridge along this route.
THIS NOTICE IS DATED THIS DAY 13TH MAY 2026.
