TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE (PORTOBELLO ROAD) 2026
The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea give notice that they have made a Temporary Traffic Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Schedule 1 Section 14 (1)(a) and all other enabling powers prohibiting motorised vehicles from proceeding or waiting in roads cited below.
• Portobello Road, to be closed at the junction of Chepstow Villas to the junction of Westbourne Grove.
• Denbigh Terrace to be closed at the junction of Portobello Road.
The Road is to be closed to vehicles for crane works.
The restrictions will come into force from 06.00hrs on Tuesday 19th May 2026, until 23.00hrs on Wednesday 20th May 2026.
Diverted through traffic may use Chepstow Villas, Denbigh Road, Westbourne Grove.
The One-way working of Portobello Road between the junctions of Chepstow Villas and Westbourne Grove is to be suspended for the duration of the road closure.
Traffic holds of up to three minutes at a time are permitted on Chepstow Villas and Westbourne Grove, either side of Portobello Road.
Access will be maintained for residents and occupiers.
Nothing in this Order shall apply to:
- anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police constable in uniform.
- Anything done in connection with the execution of said works.
