What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (BARFOLD CLOSE AND SHEARWATER ROAD, OFFERTON) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has on 5 May 2026 made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 which will come into operation on 8 June 2026. The effect of the Order will be to introduce No Waiting at Any Time at: Barfold Close, both sides from the northern kerb line of Shearwater Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 10 metres. Shearwater Road, northern side from a point 10 metres west of the western kerb line of Barfold Close in an easterly direction to a point 10 metres east of the eastern kerb line of Barfold Close (to tie-in with the aforementioned). 

A copy of the Order and map may be obtained from Stockport Legal Services, Town Hall Stockport. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or the Road Traffic Act 1991, or that a requirement of the Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
