THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL
(STAFFORD STREET) (TEMPORARY
PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City
Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1)(a)
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by
the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991,
prohibiting vehicles from proceeding on the following
stretches of road:
l Stafford Street Bus Lane suspended between its junction
with Stafford Road/Fiveways Island and the entrance to
the Mazda Garage, to allow for all traffic use. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate from 20 May 2026
until 1 July 2026.
l Right-hand turn from Stafford Street onto Cannock Road
closed. Vehicular Diversion Route: Stafford Street
(outbound), Fiveways Island and Stafford Street
(inbound). It is anticipated that the closure will operate
from 25 June 2026 until 15 July 2026.
l Right-hand turn from Cannock Road onto Stafford Street
closed. Vehicular Diversion Route: Stafford Street
(inbound), Ring Road (clockwise), RH turn onto Ring Road
(anticlockwise) and Stafford Street. It is anticipated that the
closure will operate from 25 June 2026 until 15 July 2026.
l Stafford Street Bus Lane suspended to allow for all traffic
use, from the junction with The Maltings to the junction
with Ring Road. It is anticipated that the closure will
operate from 25 June 2026 until 15 July 2026.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen
months, but it is anticipated that the works will be
undertaken between the dates specified above.
The Order is required to facilitate the installation of high
voltage electrical ducting by National Grid Electricity
Distribution.
