Richard Street - Temporary One-way Traffic to Allow Highway Improvement Works
What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (RICHARD STREET, PORTWOOD) (TEMPORARY ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce Temporary One-Way Traffic at Richard Street, Portwood, one-way northbound only from the junction of Marsland Street in a northerly direction for approximately 30 metres, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow highway improvement works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 10 weeks.
A diversion will be provided via Marsland Street, Great Portwood Street, Avenue Street, and Richard Street. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians. This Order is to come into operation on 26 May 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
