What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s): ORDER NO. MCC000 149410502 : The City of Manchester (Oxford Street & Whitworth Street West, Deansgate Ward) (Temporary Closure of Cycle Lane & No Waiting No Loading) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order is to prohibit any pedal cycle (and any pedestrian) from proceeding at any time in the following length of cycle lane: Oxford Street, junction with Whitworth Street West. 

The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate Utility asset works. 

It is expected that the works will be in progress from 9th May 2026 to 10th May 2026. The order shall come into operation on 9th May 2026and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. 

ORDER NO. MCC 149786439 : The City of Manchester (Kingsway, Didsbury East Ward) (Temporary One Way Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order is to make Kingsway One-way from its junction with Moor Park Road to its junction with Laneside Road (permitted direction of travel - south to north). 

The alternative routes for traffic will be: Parrs Wood Lane, Didsbury Road, St Johns Road, Didsbury Road Cycle Path, Bankhall Road, Green Lane, Travis Brow, Didsbury Roundabout, M60 Junction 1 Off Slip Clockwise from Junction 27, Hollywood Way, Brinksway, Didsbury Road, Stockport Road, Councillor Lane, High Street, Gatley Road, Kingsway vice versa. 

The City Council is satisfied that this restriction is necessary in order to facilitate manhole frame and cover replacement. 

It is expected that the works will be in progress on the 12th May 2026 between the hours of 21:00 and 23:00. 

The Order shall come into operation on the 12th May 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
