What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL 
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (U7520 Lower Road, Forest Row) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Lower Road – from the junction with Station Road to the junction with A22 London Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A22 London Road, Lewes Road – B2110 Hartfield Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 27 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 and 29 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions. The East Sussex (C83 Church Street/Wardsbrook Road, Ticehurst) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Church Street/Wardsbrook Road – from the junction with B2099 High Street to the junction with C83 Myskyns Road. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C83 Myskyns Road, Cottenden Road – C214 Bardown Road, Stonegate Road – B2099 Shovers Green, High Street and vice versa.

The Order commences 26 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 26 and 29 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7534 Sleepers Stile Road, Wadhurst)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Sleepers Stile Road – from the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road to the junction with C82 Monks Lane. 

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C537 Newbury Lane, Monks Lane – B2100 Cousley Wood Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 11 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 11 and 12 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C539 Balaclava Lane, Turners Green, Wadhurst) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Balaclava Lane – from the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road to the junction with C539 Turners Green.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C539 Turners Green, Three Oaks Lane – B2099 Station Hill, Station Road, Durgates – B2100 Sparrows Green Road, Cousley Wood Road – C539 Balaclava Lane – C272 Osmers Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 11 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 11 and 12 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions. If you require further information telephone Network Management on 0345 60 80 193.

The East Sussex (U6892 Birchetts Green Lane, Ticehurst)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

Temporary Road Closure
Birchetts Green Lane – from the junction with U6192 Burnt Lodge Lane to the junction with U6193 Wards Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6892 Birchetts Green Lane – U6192 Burnt Lodge Lane – B2099 High Street – U6193 Wards Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 13 May 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 13 and 15 May 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
