What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (WILLOW HOLME ROAD AND BRIDGE LANE, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the sections of road:
- Willow Holme Road, Carlisle from a point approx. 70m south east of its junction with the U1486 Millrace Road, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 450m to the point where it joins Bridge Lane; and
- Bridge Lane, Carlisle from its junction with A595, Bridge Street, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 70m to a point where it joins Willow Holme Road.
There is no suitable alternative route for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 11 May 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 13 days, between 1800 and 0300 hours, each day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
