Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A290 Clapham Hill, Whitstable, CT5 3DW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow CCTV and jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 Clapham Hill, Whitstable northbound only, from 1st June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed northbound only, in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any northbound through traffic is via Westbound Slip Onto A299 from Wraik Hill Roundabout, A299 Thanet Way, A2 M2 J7 Roundabout, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way Slip Way and A2990 Thanet Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A290 St Dunstans Street, B2248 St Stephens Road & B2248 Station Road West, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY WEIGHT LIMIT SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Dunstans Street, B2248 St Stephens Road & B2248 Station Road West, Canterbury, southbound only, from 22:00 hours on 1st June 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 2nd June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
A290 St Dunstans Street will be closed southbound only, in the vicinity of number 34A, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any southbound through traffic is via London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, Station Road West and A290 St Dunstans Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The weight limit restriction on B2248 St Stephens Road will be suspended between Kingsmead Road Roundabout and B2248 Station Road West.

A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic in phases, on part of A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Whitstable from 1st June 2026 with estimated completion by 23rd July 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.
A299 Thanet Way will be closed at various points between Whitstable and the junction with Heart In Hand Road, Coastbound and Londonbound, to the extents indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative diversion routes are as follows:
A299 Thanet Way between Whitstable & Herne Bay (Coastbound) - A299 Thanet Way Slip Way, A2990 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road and then rejoin A299 Thanet Way.

Bow Hill, Upper Hardres, CT4 6EN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bow Hill, Upper Hardres from 3rd June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 110m west of the junction Hardres Court Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bow Hill, Catt’s Wood Road, Hardres Court Road, Bow Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Broxhall Road, Upper Hardres. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broxhall Road, Upper Hardres from 3rd June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 10m east of the junction Pilots Farm Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broxhall Road, Pilots Farm Road, Tapleys Hill, Pett Bottom Road, Broxhall Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Busheyfields Road, Ridgeway Road & Curtis Wood Road, Herne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Busheyfields Road, Ridgeway Road & Curtis Wood Road, Herne from 20th May 2026 with estimated completion by 21st May 2026, between the hours on 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Busheyfields Road & Ridgeway Road is via Busheyfields Road, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Albion Lane, Ridgeway Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for Curtis Wood Road is via Curtis Wood Road and follow diversion for Busheyfields Road & Ridgeway Road and vice versa.

Castle Row, Canterbury - Canterbury Pride 2026 (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & WAITING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow the Canterbury Pride Event 2026 to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting vehicle waiting and through traffic on part of Castle Row, Canterbury, from 3rd June 2026, with estimated completion by 8th June 2026, or until the event has finished.
Castle Row will be closed between the junctions with A28 Pin Hill and Dane John Mews, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via Castle Row, Castle Street and A28 Pin Hill.
The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Riding Gate Roundabout and Castle Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the event.
Waiting will be prohibited in all parking bays on Castle Row from outside Age Concern up to the junction with Gas Passage, but does not apply to vehicles involved in the running of the event.
Duckpit Road, Petham, CT4 5QE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Duckpit Road, Petham from 3rd June 2026 with estimated completion by 5th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite New Barn Farm heading approximately 650m north from Duckpit Farmhouse, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Duckpit Road, Church Lane, Kake Street, Waltham Road, Broadway, Duckpit Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Glen Avenue, Herne Bay, CT6 6NG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Glen Avenue, Herne Bay from 18th May 2026, with estimated completion by 27th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Glen Avenue and Grange Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Glen Avenue, Beltinge Road, Sea View Road, Reculver Road, Grange Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
This closure is in conjunction with two-way lights on Grange Road.
Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic, in phases, on part of Grove Ferry Hill, Upstreet. This order takes effect on or after 6th June 2026 for up to 18 months.
Works Schedule
• 22:00 hours on 6th June 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 08 June 2026.
• 22:00 hours on 12th September 2026 with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 14th September 2026.
• 22:00 hours on 5th December 2026 with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 7th December 2026.
The road will be closed between the junction with Becketts Wood and the level crossing, to the extent indicated by the signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic (excluding vehicles over 7.5 tonne) is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, Stourmouth Road, Preston Road, The Street, Plucks Gutter, Gore Street, A253 Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Grove Ferry Hill and vice versa.
The alternative route for vehicles over 7.5 tonne is via Grove Ferry Road, Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Road, Preston Hill, A257 Goberry Hill, Roman Road, Pedding Hill, Ash Bypass, Sandwich Road, Each End, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, Canterbury Road West, A253 Canterbury Road and A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road and vice versa.

Linden Grove, Canterbury, CT2 8AB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow defect works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Linden Grove, Canterbury from 20:00 hours on 21st May 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 22nd May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 86 A290 St Dunstans Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Mortimer Street & North Street, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow gully works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mortimer Street & North Street, Herne Bay from 18th May 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Mortimer Street eastbound traffic is via Mortimer Street, Bank Street, B2205 High Street & East Street.
The alternative route for North Street southbound traffic is via North Street, Charles Street, William Street, Central Parade, B2205 Canterbury Road, High Street, East Street and Mortimer Street.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be suspended between the junctions with Bank Street and East Street, to allow access.

Mystole Lane, Mystole, CT4 7BX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mystole Lane, Mystole from 18th May 2026, with estimated completion by 20th May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Mystole Lane, Thruxted Lane, Bobbin Lodge Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Canterbury Road, Mystole Lane and vice versa.

Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 1BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury, northeast bound only, from 19:00 hours on 21st May 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 22nd May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed northeast bound only, outside William Hill Bookmakers number 41, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic northeast bound is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place and Union Street.

Nunnery Road & Oxford Road, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nunnery Road & Oxford Road, Canterbury from 19th May 2026, with estimated completion by 21st May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed in the vicinity of number 47a Norman Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Oxford Road and Nunnery Road is via Oxford Road, Guildford Road, Zealand Road, Nunnery Road and vice versa.

To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of South Road, Herne Bay from 1st June 2026, with estimated completion by 11th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Victoria Park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for South Road is via South Road, B2205 High Street, Canterbury Road and King’s Road and vice versa.
The alternative route for Victoria Road eastbound is via Victoria Road, New Street, B2205 High Street and Canterbury Road.

To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Warwick Road, Canterbury from 19th May 2026, with estimated completion by 21st May 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 4, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Wick Lane, Woolage Green & Firs Road, Womenswold. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Wick Lane, Woolage Green & Firs Road, Womenswold. This order takes effect on or after 1st June 2026 for up to 18 months. It may be necessary for some of the roads to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.
After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.
These works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.

Various Roads, Canterbury - Canterbury Unlocked Event. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow the Canterbury unlocked event to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Canterbury, from 18th May 2026, with estimated completion by 24th May 2026, or until the event is complete
Closure Schedule
• Monday 18th May 2026 to Friday 22nd May 2026 - the roads will be closed southbound only, between the hours of 09:00 and 14:00 only.
• Saturday 23rd May 2026 - the roads will be closed in both directions, between the hours of 09:00 and 20:00 only.
• Sunday 24th May 2026 (event) - the roads will be closed in both directions between the hours of 06:00 and 23:59 only.
The following roads will be closed leading up to and on the day of the event. This is to enable safe rehearsals and performances for the Canterbury Unlocked Event, a conclusion of the Levelling Up Works in Canterbury.

The alternative route for any southbound traffic is via A290 St Dunstans Street, London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout, A290 St Peters Place.
The alternative route for any northbound traffic is via A290 St Peters Place, A2050 Rheims Way, London Road, A290 St Dunstans Street.
